Queen of Your Own Life: The Grown-Up Woman's Guide to Claiming Happiness and Getting the Life You Deserve Queen of Your Own Life: The Grown-Up Woman's Guide to Claiming Happiness and Getting the Life You Deserve

by Kathy Kinney & Cindy Ratzlaff

Book Reviews

"Queen of Your Life: The Grown-Up Woman's Guide to Claiming Happiness and Getting the Life You Deserve is a great read for an autobiography: filled with anecdotes and witticisms; humourous stories and some sad tales -- all about growing up and becoming women, friends and queens."

"Although this book Queen of Your Own Life by Kathy Kinney & Cindy Ratzlaff is very serious ideas and personal anecdotes, this book is also fun. There are blocks on the pages titled Crown Jewels. These Crown Jewels are meaningful, special and practical tips from famous women like Eleanor Roosevelt, Harriet Tubman, Anaïs Nin, Pearl Buck and other women. Just the bright red and yellow color of the tiny book makes me excited and ready for change. I especially like the journal style of the book for my personal points to remember. It is also a place to make new memories as I begin to try to change myself."

"As soon as I saw Kathy Kinney was an author I had to read this! It's a very empowering book, the kind that helps you change your way of thinking."
--Mommy Reads Too Much

"This over analyzing, worrying, kicking our own selves when we're down, that's what Queen of Your Own Life is all about. Two women who decided they didn't like the word crone to describe women as they aged. Men are distinguished and handsome with their salt and pepper hair as they get older, but what are we? They came up with steps to take charge of their lives, go after the happiness they wanted, stopped beating themselves up, learned how to say no, and really came to know themselves a lot better. They did this in a way that was witty, light hearted, but also serious."

"This week, I had the pleasure of reading Kathy Kinney and Cindy Ratzlaff's book Queen of Your Own Life: The Grown-Up Woman's Guide to Claiming Happiness and Getting the Life You Deserve. I do mean pleasure: the book is beautifully laid out, was a hoot to read, and had plenty of great advice, as well! What meant the most was that it felt like the book was written just for me (even though I'm not quite middle- aged yet). I found so much that I could relate to so I want to share a few of my favorite points."

"I truly enjoyed this uplifting book filled with positive energy and laugh-out-loud anecdotes from the authors, Kathy Kinney and Cindy Ratzlaff. While there is much humor in Queen of Your Own Life, what I found most uplifting is there are many truths -- truths every woman should take to heart. I feel energized after reading this book and I'm sure I'll return to read it again. I'm ready to be Queen of my own life, are you?"
--Country Bookshelf

"Kathy Kinney and Cindy Ratzlaff have written a terrific guide for those of us that are grown up women! 'Queen of Your Own Life' is not a diet book, not a self improvement book, but an accept who you are and enjoy book. It covers the seven gifts you should give yourself."
--Joe Mama

"With humour, comfort and inspiration, Queen of Your Own Life offers easy step-by-step actions to blast away at the societal tall tale that young is beautiful and old is just old. If you've been feeling that the best part of your life may be behind you, then this book will prove to you just how untrue that is, and that the door to being happy is not only never closed, but just waiting for you to fling it open. Remember, you don't have to be twenty something to have your whole life ahead of you. Now is the time to become the Queen of Your Own Life!"
--Company of Woman

"The book is cleverly laid out. Each chapter covers a different aspect of life that might be interfering with your ability to be happy. One thing I really enjoyed was that there are parts that are specifically written by Kathy or Cindy and listed as such. These sections give a personal insight that relates to the topic. Another wonderful part of the book are the Crown Jewels. These are inspirations, humorous or enlightening quotes from a vast variety of people. I really enjoyed the ease of this book. Often 'self-help' books can be preachy. This is more like a friend chatting with you. I really enjoyed it and think it is a great read for the woman who enjoy a bit of humor with their help."
--Busy Moms Who Love to Read

"I love the idea of having a crowning party. I can just see a bunch of women sitting around eating snacks and drinking wine. The Queen to Be has a crown on her head and might be wearing a broach. The guest all watching as the excitement builds! The Qeen (sic) to Be is now offically a queen and with her new title, she says 'From this day forward, I will remember I am an extraordinary woman -- beautiful, intellegent, brave, and powerful. With the wisdom and tools I have gained, I am excited to embark on the adventure that is the glorious second half of my life. I am now truly, the Queen of my life!"
--Luv-Books

"I am 45, have been through too many things in my lifetime. This book showed me that it is up to me to deal with issues, and to be happy! It showed me that it is up to me to tell people how I expect to be treated, and the tools to be able to do it. At the end of it all, you will find true happiness for this part of your life. Who knows what else you'll find, I'm a bit more excited now . . . This is YOUR life ladies; learn to be the Queen of YOUR life. My thanks to the authors for creating such a great book for us, in a funny but honest approach!"
--Simply Stacie

"The authors, Kathy Kinney (best known as Mimi on The Drew Carey Show) and Cindy Ratzlaff (marketing genius behind the launch of The South Beach Diet) have been best friends for more than thirty years. They got together to write this book, and share awesome tips that they call 'the seven best gifts a woman can give herself.' Their friendship and humor come across in the book, and the personalities of the authors showed through. It felt a lot like you were talking with friends, not just reading a book. It was more than just a good advice book; it has points that can make you think, while also making you giggle. A great combination!"
